Simon lives in an apartment at the back of the Exceptional Museum of Astounding Toys. He lives there because his parents own it, and he has been brought up to look after the exhibitions but to never play with them. When his parents go out for the day, they expect Simon to behave himself and NOT TOUCH any toys. But when three penguins from a nearby beach come looking for some hijinks, they quickly find out that Simon is a willing participant.

There’s an unassuming little harbour town in South Africa called Simon’s Town. I used to love visiting the toy museum there. A short walk brings you to a beach where penguins abound. My nostalgic reminiscences culminated in the little story and illustrations above.
